FALLS TWP. – The supervisors awarded bids for a new anti-skid spreader and new roof for the garage at a special meeting Oct. 23.
Chasmar Construction of Falls will completely replace the roof on the township garage for $4,900.
Davison Construction, Falls, submitted a lower bid of $4,700, but it didn’t include all the work that Chasmar’s bid did, said chairman Roy Landsiedel. Any additional work and materials would have cost more money. Dunmore Construction also submitted a bid for $11,900.
The supervisors approved a $7,794 bid from Chemung Supply for a new spreader to apply anti-skid to roads during the winter, pending approval of the equipment by roadmaster Robert Kenia. It will be delivered in 30 days.
The garage roof and the spreader will be paid for from the township’s buildings and grounds account.
In other business, the supervisors also voted to:
* Order 100 feet of plastic drainage pipe at $8.36 per foot for a flood damage mitigation project on Crooked Lane. This work has been approved for reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the supervisors said.
* Approve a $30,097 bill from American Asphalt for blacktopping TR 375, Old Mill Road. These funds come from a special township fund for road work, the supervisors said.
* Sell some old equipment — a road grader, roller and electric welder – that aren’t being used.
* Investigate prices for a fire alarm system for the township building. The system is required by DGK Insurance, the township’s carrier. The supervisors will consider prices at their November meeting.
