Mom admits furnishing alcohol to teen

TUNKHANNOCK – A 47-year-old mom entered a guilty plea Friday morning to three counts of furnishing alcohol to minors for her indirect role in an underage drinking party in May that led to one of the youth’s deaths.

Christina A. McClain of Meshoppen appeared before Wyoming County President Judge Russell Shurtleff and was told she could face as much as one year in prison and a $2500 fine in each of the three counts.

Mrs. McClain turned herself into authorites in July after court documents claimed she was the source of a 30-pack of Budweiser and two 30-packs of Busch beer that her son Casey McClain, 18, took to a party.

Both the younger McClain and Joshua Daniel Harris, 18, of Tunkhannock, also face charges of each bringing alcohol to a party attended by 20 others, where one of them, 17-year-old Christopher Packer died in an ATV crash.

Court documents outlining charges against Harris do not state the source of the alcohol he brought to the party.

Judge Shurtleff told Mrs. McClain she would be sentenced at a later date.
